How to find the right AC swing motor part number (24BYJ48, MP24GA5, MP35EA…)

Read the part number printed on your old swing motor, then match that number together with the motor's connector and number of wires. Split AC indoor swing motors are 12V DC stepper motors from a handful of families — 24BYJ48, MP24 (such as MP24GA5), MP28 (such as MP28VB), MP35 (such as MP35EA and MP35CJ), 20BYJ46, 30BYJ46 and 35BYJ46 — and the number on your motor says which one you have.

Why not just go by the AC brand?

Because one brand can use different motors in different models. Daikin listings show the MP35EA, the MSFBC20C21 and the MP24Z, and Blue Star listings show a 30BYJ46 for 1.5-ton units and a 35BYJ46 for 2-ton units. The brand narrows the search; the number on the motor decides it.

Why does the connector matter?

The same family can be wired differently. The 24BYJ48 / MP24GA type is a 5-wire unipolar motor — four phases plus a common — and an LG 24BYJ48 listing shows five wire colours: yellow, brown, red, blue and orange. But the Daikin MP35EA is also sold in a 6-wire version, the Haier 35BYJ46 in a 5-wire one, and most listings do not state the wire count at all. Match the plug and the number of wires, not the part number alone.

Is it 12V DC or 220V AC?

Split AC indoor swing motors are 12V DC. 220V AC synchronous swing motors are a different part, used mainly in window and tower ACs, so one cannot stand in for the other.
